Network News Chiefs:

NBC News

NBC News is the news division of NBC, operating under NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of media conglomerate Comcast.  Steve Burke is President & CEO of NBCUniversal. Deborah Turness had been president of NBC News from 2013-2017.

Currently, Noah Oppenheim is President of NBC News (since 2017) and Andrew Lack is Chairman of NBCUniversal News Group (since 2015).

CBS News

CBS News is the news division of CBS.  Joseph Ianniello is the Acting President & CEO of CBS Corporation, and Susan Zirinsky was announced as President of CBS News in March 2019.

Susan Zirinsky is the first female president of CBS News.

ABC News

ABC News is the news division of ABC, a key part of Disney Media Networks, a division of media conglomerate The Walt Disney Company. George Stephanopoulos is Chief Anchor and David Muir is Anchor and Managing Editor of ABC World News Tonight.

 

Kim Godwin was named President of ABC News in April 2021, replacing James Goldston. Godwin, formerly at CBS News, is the first Black woman to head a broadcast news division.

 

Cable News Chiefs:

Fox News

Fox News Channel, owned by Fox News Group, a division of Fox Corporation since 2019 (when most 21st Century Fox divisions and assets were acquired by Disney), is a pay cable channel that broadcasts in 86 countries.

Rupert Murdoch (who created the channel in 1996) is the Executive Chairman.  Suzanne Scott is the current CEO, named to the post in 2018, following the ousting of Roger Ailes due to sexual harassment accusations.

Suzanne Scott is the first female CEO of Fox News.

 

CNN

CNN (Cable News Network) is a pay-cable channel owned by AT&T/Warner Media.  CNN also encompasses CNN.com, which is the network’s website, and one of the world’s most popular news sites, and CNN Wire, a syndicated wire service.

Chris Licht was named President of CNN in February 2022, replacing long-time head Jeff Zucker, who admitted to an undisclosed relationship with a co-worker.

 

MSNBC

MSNBC is a pay-cable channel that is part of NBCUniversal News Group, a division of NBCUniversal Television Group of NBCUniversal, all subsidiaries of media conglomerate Comcast.  See above for NBC leadership structure.

 

In 2021, Rashida Jones replaced Phil Griffin as President of MSNBC, becoming the first Black woman to lead a cable news network.
