This category includes Power, Energy, Basic Materials and Utilities.  According to analysis of eleven different business categories in the Russell 3000 companies by 2020 Women on Boards in conjunction with Equilar, Utilities have made the biggest gains in having women in the Boardroom and top management.  Utilities in 2018 have 24% of Board members who are female, and 19% of executive officers.

Women are substantially less represented in the Energy, Power and Materials areas.  According to Catalyst, in the US’s largest energy companies in 2017, women accounted for 7% of CEOs, 10% of CFOs, 21% of CIOs and 21% of C-Suite positions overall.  These include a high in Utilities, as stated, and a low in mining and extraction companies.

Women make up a larger percentage of the workforce in renewable energy, yet the majority of women work in administrative jobs rather than those that are STEM-related.

What will it take for women to get into the Power Percentage of Energy & Natural Resources in America?
