Power Positions in Finance

94 firms are included Fortune 500’s finance/banking/insurance services rankings for 2021. These firms include 8 female CEOs: #33 Citigroup, #74 Progressive, #79 TIAA, #207 Reinsurance Group of America, #295 Jones Financial, #369 Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, #480 Nasdaq, and #484 Franklin Resources.

These 8 female CEOs are 8.5% of the CEOs of the finance sector in the Fortune 500.

Additionally, two of these 8 female CEOs are women of color – a first for the Fortune 500 list.

Finance, Banking and Insurance executives are still overwhelmingly male. In addition, the largest compensation packages across this industry sector go to men. According to Bloomberg.com, citing a Morningstar report, of 18 executives at public companies who earned more than $50 million in 2020, only one was a woman.
